Magic Leap Reveals Renewed Collaboration with Google for Cutting-Edge AR Glasses Prototypes

On October 29, Magic Leap announced at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference in Riyadh that it has re-established a strategic partnership with Google, and the two companies will jointly develop augmented reality (AR) glasses prototypes aimed at further advancing AR technology.
Ross Rosenberg, leader of Magic Leap, said: "We have evolved from pioneers in the AR field into ecosystem partners, which marks the next stage of our vision." He emphasized that with years of innovation experience, Magic Leap will leverage its expertise in optics, display systems, and device services to help partners advance the evolution of AR technology, creating an AR vision that is both practical and powerful.
The three-year collaboration focuses on developing AR glasses prototypes that combine visual quality, comfort, and manufacturability. Magic Leap will combine its advanced optical technology with Google's Raxium micro LED engine, aiming to create an AR experience that is wearable and light. This technological combination not only improves display quality but also ensures user comfort during use.
At the FII event, Magic Leap demonstrated an AI glasses prototype designed for the Android XR ecosystem. The live demonstration highlighted the comfort and fashionability of the smart glasses, as well as how they seamlessly integrate Google's Raxium micro LED light engine, successfully merging digital and real-world elements. This allows users to enjoy the real world while utilizing the knowledge and features of multimodal AI content.
Shahram Izadi, Vice President and General Manager of Google XR, highly praised this collaboration: "The precision of Magic Leap in optics and waveguide design gives the display an extremely rare trend and stability." He believes this consistency makes the symmetry between physical and digital vision possible, allowing users to keep their eyes relaxed and enjoy a more comfortable fusion experience while using the product.
